A rampaging tiger, an assassination, and a looming economic downturn.

What a way to end the year.

Just wanted to point out something from this AP article:
One-third believe in ghosts, UFOs

...Those who dismissed the existence of ghosts include Morris Swadener, 66, a Navy retiree from Kingston, Wash.

He says he shot one with his rifle when he was a child.

"I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a white ghost in my closet," he said. "I discovered I'd put a hole in my brand new white shirt. My mother and father were not amused."

Now a number of questions spring to mind. How old was this guy when he was a 'child'? Why did his parents give him a rifle at that age? Why was said rifle so conveniently placed that he could fire into his closet, from his bed most likely? And did he just go right back to sleep after firing a shot into his closet?? o_O

Clearly the only thing we need to be afraid of (apart from colliding asteroids, seismic disturbances, and alien invasions) is humanity itself.

2,000 photos. Between the 4 of us, that's the number of photos that we took over the course of about a week. I can't possibly upload all of them (and I don't really want to anyway :P). But just for kicks, here's a quick tribute to my wonderful host in Taiwan:

So thanks for a great week Annie! Must have been hard babysitting so many people simultaneously... Now I hope you can get some quality MCAT studying time in >_<.

And thanks (and no thanks) to Eubee and Becca, for making an 'old' person feel young again :P. In any case, I've reached the conclusion that I'm definitely a little too old for neoprints... That will be the LAST time.

Alrighty, so it's back to work tomorrow for me. Boo.

Time to face reality once again.

P.S. Merry Christmas to everyone out there (even though the day's almost over here).

P.P.S. Note to self - I will try not to be in the air on Christmas day next year. This flying business on Christmas is kinda sucky.

I'm off to Taiwan for the week.

Later y'all.

I know my work deals with tax, but when my dad came up to me this evening...

"Do you know what 'tax-o-no-mic' means?"

"Er..." (Pauses at crucial scene in Il Mare) "I think it means how you classify organisms. Why?"

"Oh." (Pause. Pulls out sheet of paper with an email printout.) "Then could you explain to me what this woman wants? What are these 'kingdoms' that she's talking about?"

(Passes email-printout from some school teacher who's organizing a Biology field trip for 15 to 16 year olds.)

"Dad, given this woman's requirements, er..." (trying hard to find a way to tell him that JUST MAYBE someone with a little knowledge of Biology should be conducting the session), "You might want to clarify what exactly she wants."

"Yeah, I'm going to talk to her tomorrow. But I don't want to sound stupid."

"Okaaaaay... Then maybe you should Google some of these terms, or check Wikipedia..."

"Wait, wait, slow down... Let me get a pen so that I can write this down... Wee Kee.. Wii.. What's that?"

"It's an online encyclopedia Dad." (writes it down for him) "Or you can just Google the words."

"Ok..." (leaves the room.)

(After I'm done watching Il Mare, I walk by his room where he's watching TV.)

"So found out what she wants yet?"

"Oh... Not yet. Do I need to install something to use Google?"

(Stares at his computer screen that has IE open, and is currently at the Yahoo! website.)

"Er... Gimme a sec. I'll be right back."

(Goes to grab some milk in anticipation of a loooong evening ahead...)
